HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

EDUCATE YOURSELF AND INFORM OTHERS

  • Look for and share stories about housing in our community in the newspapers and on the local news programs.
  • Become informed about policies in our area affecting modest-income families.
  • Share what you learn with those around you, including your family members, co-workers, church members and neighbors.  Help change perceptions with knowledge.
  • Be aware of how you speak about modest-income people and omit phrases that are judgmental or unfavorable and replace them with positive, factual statements.

ADVOCATE WITH CITY OFFICIALS

  • Attend Planning Commission and City Council meetings to learn more about what Maple Grove is considering regarding affordable lifecycle housing.  Meetings are posted on the city website at www.maple-grove.mn.us.
  • Support plans that will create more lifecycle housing in our city such as new developments with affordable housing options and land trusts.
  • Share your concerns with public officials and the media via e-mails, letters to the editor, or phone calls.
