Housing for All, a coalition of area churches, business leaders
and interested citizens, promotes affordable housing in the
northwest metropolitan suburbs.
Affordable housing, also referred to as workforce housing and
lifecycle housing, is safe, decent housing that costs no more
than 30% of a family’s gross income. It is housing that allows
people at any stage of life and any income level to live in our
communities. It is housing that gives its residents the same
things we all want for ourselves: a safe, stable, affordable
place to live and raise a family, access to job opportunities
and good schools, and the chance to be part of a healthy
community. And, unlike the stereotypes of the past, it is
housing that is attractive and blends seamlessly into the
market-rate housing in the community.
Housing for All focuses on actions we can take in partnership to
ensure that cities maintain housing diversity and increase their
available affordable housing stock. These actions include
supporting proposed affordable developments, including language
favorable to affordable housing in City comprehensive use plans,
promoting land trust homes, and engaging business leaders to
advocate for workforce housing.
